Levels Remixes
72
Since Avicii's dropped the song of the year in electro terms, every DJ has been making remakes or dropping it in concerts. Here's a list of all the popular remixes:
Avicii's Original
In case you somehow missed the original, here it is. Avicii released this on the 28th of October 2011. The songs sub-genre is progressive-house. It reached number one in Sweden and hit Top 10 in 12 other countries.
Many say Levels, Le7els or ID made Avicii hit the #6 DJ spot in DJ Mag. It certainly reinforced Avicii's position in the mag, after many other DJ's supported it on tours.
Skrillex Remix
It was only a matter of time before UKF found someone to mix Levels. With the hit being dropped at almost every UKF concert, I'm surprised it wasn't mixed live.
While I would've thought someone more "inside" the UKF scene would have mixed the track, it seems Skrillex was the only guy to have a complexing style.
The video was uploaded on YouTube on the 10th of December and is released on the 20th. It received half-a-million views within the first few days.
Cazzette Remix
Cazzette are a new group of progressive-house, electro and glitch DJ's. They come from Sweden and they've already mixed a few Swedish House Mafia tracks.
They created this track about two weeks after Avicii released his. Releasing it on YouTube on the 28th of November. It hit 100,000 views within the first two weeks of it being uploaded.
Their rendition of Levels was a lot more electro and less funk and house. They do several glitch parts, with large drops in bass. I would call it dubstep, but the bpm isn't high enough.
Clockwork Remix
Clockwork is a newish DJ from New York. He is known for creating remixes of the biggest tracks. He made a Levels remix on Soundcloud and it got over 30,000 views within a short period of time, which grabbed him enough attention to start getting views.
Clockworks mix is a little more 'trance-house' then all the rest. He makes bits of the song 'stand-alone', on only vocals, which most trance artists do.
I'm hoping to see more work from Clockwork, especially if they're as good as this remix.
Trad Remix
Different type of remix. Instead of using computer software or decks, Trad only uses instrumental and noises. He re-creates the different sounds 2-8 times, so it makes the song sound like Levels.
Trad is a chap named Sean Regan, who has gained internet success with his remakes of songs. He hit 200,000 views sometime around December. His song was uploaded on the 28th of November.
FTampa
Quite a longer version of Levels with more of a strong kick-beat. FTampa is another new artist who is growing in popularity on SoundCloud.
His remake is around seven minutes long and contains a large starting - the song goes pretty much the same way the original does, but with more of a kick to it. I could say it is more electro in places, but in others it's just added clapping; so I'm unsure.
Definitely a good remix though - worthy of Avicii's approval.
Felix Leiter
Felix Leiter dropped this remix in a club called Digital, located in Newcastle.
While he may not be hitting up his own tracks, he's certainly getting somewhere with his DJ career. I can only hope he'll keep progressing.
The song has more of a dance-kick to it, which a track in a club should have. A great deal of work went into re-making this and a lot of glitch work was used in places.
Epic remix by AM
Swedish House Mafia & David Guetta
You may be looking at some of these "nobodies" and wondering why the big guys aren't on there. Well, I believe there is something about big names re-creating big tracks that makes the original DJ a bit sour.
Perhaps it's because they may make a large amount of sales if they release it or it may become very popular. Whatever it is, once you're really big in the DJ world you only drop other tracks on live performances.
So here they are, Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta, two of the big house names, dropping Levels at their tours/concerts. Sorry if it's bad quality, they're the only good ones I can find that haven't been prolonged for ages or ruined by bad camera focus.
I hope you've gathered a large amount of knowledge about new remixes and new artists. Let's just hope you enjoy electronic music before watching all them!
I'll keep updating when I find more good tracks, I only check on YouTube though, so don't expect me to find tracks on SoundCloud or BeatPort.
